United Methodist Women

The Purpose of UMW is adopted by the General Conference of The United Methodist Church as the official mission statement of United Methodist Women. United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Out of the Purpose are four mission foci that relate to the the mission initiatives and priorities of United Methodist Women.

  • To be a community of women
  • To know God
  • To develop a creative and supportive fellowship
  • To expand concepts of mission

Mission Initiatives

The entire program and organization of United Methodist Women focuses on mission. Our mission initiatives include:

  • Providing opportunities to grow spiritually
  • Equipping women & girls to be leaders
  • Providing transformative educational experiences
  • Organizing for growth & flexibility
  • Working for justice through service and advocacy

Mission is presence, relationship, witness and sharing.

Mission is refusing to turn away when the tears of God are being shed over the violence and injustice and suffering of God’s wayward creation.

— United Methodist Women-supported mission intern David Hosey

Be a part of an amazing group of women who are committed to showing the Light of the Lord to the world through missions, fellowship, and worship. All women are welcome, no matter what age! Come out and join in our commitment to show love to the community; locally, nationally, and internationally.

UMW groups meet monthly, and work on missions-related projects, helping families, giving care, making soup for local food shelters, and other things that always result in a lot of fun, fellowship, and rewarding work!
