How is the unity of the church to be preserved? By love-filled restoration of those who have offended the gospel by thought, word, or deed. The church’s sign-language, signal-language, and symbol-language are witnesses to the good news of living and working together so that, when the world looks at the church, it sees the people Christ makes new creatures. Christ’s body has mass, or as Dietrich Bonhoeffer put it, the body of Christ takes up space: it leaves imprints, footprints. What does the world see when it looks at you and us as a church?
