Pentecost 23

Series: Pentecost

The readings focus our attention on the end of the liturgical year and point us to the final coming of Christ—whether at the end of time or the end of our lives. We’re encouraged to be prepared for “the end” by dismissing false idols from our lives and recommitting ourselves to the one living God. We do this by obeying God’s word and working for justice. Paul aligns our thinking to the hope of sharing (with our deceased loved ones) the divine design of abundant life that God has set into motion in Christ, which leads us from death to life.
