Today, we place our attention squarely on the majesty and mystery of God. Paul offers praise to God that translates into humility before God, who is the Ultimate Mystery, thus forcing us to acknowledge that there’s no place for triumphalism when we speak to others about God. Even Peter’s confession is a response to a gracious revelation, given to a man who would later deny the very one who had given him the authority to carry out God’s mission in the world.
